Try the Lite Version"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/images\/YahooUnsupported.jpg\" alt=\"Yahoo Unsupported Message\" width=\"189\" height=\"233\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yahoo Mail is the biggest webmail provider in the world and its portal is one of the top web destinations. Yahoo is also the market leader in mobile webmail.\u00a0 Unfortuanately, I&#8217;ve been seeing some intermittent issues with Yahoo on mobile lately including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">Connection closed by remote server<\/span>&#8221; messages<\/li>\n<li>An infinite login loop: After entering\u00a0 my ID and password\u00a0 and clicking the <em>&#8220;Sign In&#8221; <\/em>button, the login page reloads rather than taking me to my account.\u00a0 There&#8217;s no error message, the login form just reloads.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both of these issues come and go,\u00a0 right now Yahoo is working for me but it&#8217;s been unavailable several times over the last few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>There are also a couple of other issues that seem permanent and reproducible.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Yahoo no longer keeps me logged in across sessions.\u00a0 I have to log in every time I visit.<\/li>\n<li>With some older phones that used to work with Yahoo, I now just get a message that says: &#8220;<span style=\"font-style: italic;\">We&#8217;re sorry! Yahoo! Mobile, the starting point to the mobile Internet, does not support your device&#8230;<\/span>&#8221; (image, top). This happens with some Nokia S40 phones and with older Motorola and Samsung devices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/images\/YahooHi.jpg\" alt=\"New Yahoo Mobile\" width=\"189\" height=\"233\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/wapreview.com\/images\/YahooLite.jpg\" alt=\"Yahoo Mobile Lite \" width=\"189\" height=\"233\" \/><\/p>\n<div style=\"clear:both;\"><\/div>\n<p>These problems seem to occur with the main Yahoo portal and mail URLs <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/yahoo.com\">yahoo.com<\/a>, <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/mail.yahoo.com\">mail.yahoo.com<\/a>, the published Yahoo Mobile URL, <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/m.yahoo.com\">m.yahoo.com<\/a> and the country specific variants like <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/in.m.yahoo.com\">in.m.yahoo.com<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/uk.mail.yahoo.com\">uk.mail.yahoo.com<\/a>.\u00a0 With these URLs Yahoo does browser detection and redirects mobile browsers to either the flashy &#8220;New&#8221; tabbed Yahoo home page (1st image, above) or a lighter version\u00a0 (2nd image) for low end and older devices.<\/p>\n<p>I discovered that there is an undocumented URL that goes directly to\u00a0 &#8220;<em>Lite<\/em>&#8221; version of Yahoo mobile.\u00a0 It&#8217;s <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/m1.yahoo.com\">m1.yahoo.com<\/a> (or<a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/in.m1.yahoo.com\"> in.m1.yahoo.com<\/a>, <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/uk.m1.yahoo.com\">uk.m1.yahoo.com<\/a>, etc). The lite variant seems much more reliable and I use it whenever I have problems with m.yahoo.com.\u00a0 The m1 version even works with devices that get the &#8220;unsupported&#8230;&#8221; message from m.yahoo.com.\u00a0 To skip the Yahoo portal and go straight to Yahoo Mobile Mail &#8220;Lite&#8221; use <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/m1.yahoo.com\/p\/mail\">m1.yahoo.com\/p\/mail\/<\/a> (or <a title=\"mobile site\" href=\"http:\/\/in.m1.yahoo.com\/p\/mail\/\">http:\/\/in.m1.yahoo.com\/p\/mail\/<\/a>, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>There is a downside to Yahoo Lite. It&#8217;s lacking the homepage customisation features of the full version that let you add RSS feeds, Twitter and Facebook. And with the Lite email module,\u00a0 HTML formatted emails appear as plain text without images and you can&#8221;t follow\u00a0 links in emails.\u00a0 But it does give you an option to at least read and reply to your email with an unsupported phone or\u00a0 when the better version of site is acting up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Yahoo Mail is the biggest webmail provider in the world and its portal is one of the top web destinations.
